Alison Segel is a freelance writer born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She thinks 2014 is going to be "her year" and takes back saying that re: 1986-2013. She has her multiple subject teaching credential from the University of Southern California, completed a year in the Domestic Peace Corps (AmeriCorps), and was an elementary school teacher for 4 years. She writes for Hello Giggles, XO Jane, Refinery 29, and Cultist Zine, and her work has also been featured in The Hairpin, LA Currents, Thought Catalog, and Grazia Magazine, among others.
